Useful Tips for Disaster Preparedness

Countermeasures against influenza

While seasonal influenza typically spreads from autumn onwards each year, recent years have seen the emergence of novel influenza strains originating from pigs and birds, posing a year-round threat.

Just because you have been vaccinated does not mean that prevention is perfect. Daily prevention is still important. Gargling, washing hands, and cough etiquette are important.

The key to hand washing is to use soap and water and wash your hands slowly and thoroughly from fingertips to between fingers and wrists for at least 20 seconds. After washing, wipe thoroughly with a clean towel or paper towel.

Please be aware of the following:

1.When coughing or sneezing, stay as far away from people around you as possible.
※It is said that the spray from a cough or sneeze can fly approximately 2 meters.

2.When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue.
※Put used tissues in the trash immediately.

3.Wash your hands after coughing or sneezing.

4.Wear a face mask while coughing or sneezing.
※Used masks should be disposed of in a trash can right away.

Encourage people who are coughing to wear masks.

Let's prevent influenza by gargling, washing our hands, and practicing cough etiquette.

If you do catch the flu, go to the hospital as soon as possible. Get plenty of rest and do not force yourself to go to work. And don't forget to stay hydrated.
